Oak Ridge Pools Opened, Closed, Serviced Right

Olympia Pools keeps your backyard swimming season running smoothly across northern New Jersey.

About Us

Ridge Road sits just off Route 23 in Oak Ridge, and for years Olympia Pools has been the local name homeowners in the Oak Ridge, NJ area call when the calendar flips to May and it's time to pull the cover off. Pool opening season is short in New Jersey, and every week your water sits untreated is a week your family isn't swimming. That's the reality Olympia works against every spring.

The company handles the full cycle of residential pool ownership: spring openings, weekly maintenance, chemical balancing, closing, and equipment sales through their storefront on Ridge Road. They stock chemicals, parts, and accessories so you're not driving to three different places when your pump throws a fault code the morning of a pool party.

If you've had a frustrating season, you're not alone, and the reviews here reflect that. What matters most to us going forward is communication, and that means confirmed arrival windows, returned calls, and technicians who show up when scheduled. A pool that opens on time is the baseline. That's what we're here to deliver.

What We Offer

Pool opening service covers everything from removing and storing your winter cover to reconnecting equipment, priming the pump, and doing an initial chemical balance so the water is swim-ready within days, not weeks. Scheduling slots fill fast in May, so booking early is the single best move you can make.

Beyond openings, Olympia offers weekly maintenance programs, on-call chemical delivery, equipment repair, and fall winterization. The Ridge Road storefront carries a working inventory of test kits, algaecides, shock treatments, filters, and replacement parts. If your heater, pump, or automated system needs attention, the service team can diagnose and quote repairs without you waiting on a parts order from out of state.

Pool closing service in the fall is just as critical as the opening. A properly winterized pool with the right chemical levels protects your liner, plumbing, and equipment through a New Jersey freeze cycle. Ask about bundling your open and close into a single seasonal package for better scheduling priority.

"Not surprised at all how many negative reviews this company has.. One of the most unprofessional and unorganized companies I have ever worked with. I signed up for the valet service and after coming on three separate occasions to open my pool, they just stopped showing up. After four weeks of no shows I obviously cancelled the service. At the end of the season, I received a stack of invoices (go figure..) The invoices were double what was quoted because I was an unhappy customer not coming back. Total Scam stay away"

"2025 is not a good year The pool still hasn’t been open from the last week of May which was scheduled. I am waiting patiently no calls have been returned. Previous years were very good. It’s night day from then to now. I am very surprised. Has anyone else had an issue in 2025?"

"I am very dissatisfied with the service received. We were scheduled to have our pool opened on a Saturday and waited for them all day ( someone needs to be home to turn on the electric from the panel). They called late afternoon to tell us that they’ll be here on Monday. When I told them we were scheduled and received a card for confirmation, and needed the opening that day, they said we were scheduled for Monday. That Monday, they came out to open the pool. We received the bill within that week (dated with the date of our scheduled opening). The service was not complete. The filter was not plugged in nor turned on and the hose to backwash was not connected. When I called to complain, the response was ‘so they didn’t turn a switch on’. She went on to tell me everything was done because it was checked off on the list. I was a loyal customer for 12 years. The last few years their service has really been lacking. When I expressed my disappointment to Cathy she showed no concern and seemed fine to lose a customer."

"been going to Olympia pools since 1986 would never trust another pool company to deal with our pool. They are super busy in the summer so its expected to have to wait for them to come out and service your pool, so best to call right away and not hesitate if you have an issue that you cannot fix yourself. I always have a big issue with green algae and try to deal with it myself, (wrong) but in the meantime best to stop at the store, and they will give you a complete printout, of what steps to take. They really know their stuff and their chemicals. (they are even happy to walk you thru and troubleshoot the problem on the phone if they can)."

"I was shopping for a hot tub and apparently no one that works for Olympia Pools is allowed to sell a hot tub other than the owner, which is weird. So I had to leave my name and number to have the owner call me back. He never did, I followed up several times, he never called back. Had to purchase a hot tub elsewhere. Terrible service...."

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I schedule my pool opening in Oak Ridge, NJ?

Most homeowners target late April through mid-May. Slots fill quickly, especially for weekend openings. Booking 4 to 6 weeks ahead gives you the best chance of getting your preferred date.

What does a standard pool opening include?

A typical opening covers removing and storing the winter cover, reconnecting and priming the pump and filter, reattaching ladders and returns, and an initial chemical treatment to get your water balanced and clear.

Do I need to be home for the pool opening?

Yes. Someone needs to be present to turn on the electrical supply from the panel. Confirm your arrival window with the office when you book so you're not waiting without a time estimate.

Does Olympia Pools sell chemicals and supplies in-store?

Yes. The Ridge Road location carries chlorine, shock, algaecide, pH adjusters, test kits, and a range of equipment parts. Call ahead to confirm a specific item is in stock before making the trip.

What areas does Olympia Pools service?

The company primarily serves the Oak Ridge area and surrounding communities in Morris and Passaic counties in northern New Jersey. Call to confirm service availability at your specific address.

How do I winterize my pool correctly?

Proper winterization includes balancing your water chemistry, blowing out the plumbing lines, adding winter chemicals, lowering the water level, plugging returns, and securing the cover. Skipping steps can lead to cracked pipes or liner damage over winter.

What should I do if my service appointment is missed or not confirmed?

Call the office directly and ask for a rescheduled date in writing or by text. If you have a valet or maintenance contract, reference your contract number when you call. Keeping a record of your scheduled dates helps resolve scheduling disputes faster.
